You’ve come to the webpage of #OWS Alternative Banking’s book-in-progress, Occupy Finance.
Right now we’re in the process of writing the book, by committee. We are currently adding a chapter per week, with the goal of getting it printed by the second anniversary of Occupy on September 17th, 2013. We welcome comments at the bottom of each chapter and the introduction. We’d also welcome help with printing and with associated costs.
After the Introduction, the book is divided into three basic parts: The Real Life Impact of Financialization on the 99%, How We Got Here, and Things to do.
Our table of contents is as follows, and the available chapters have associated links:
The Real Life Impact of Financialization
How We Got Here
- The muni bond industry and the 99%
- What Banks Do
- The Legal Preferences from which the Financial System Benefits
- The Legal Rules the Financial Sector Just Ignores: a list of crimes
- The bailout: it didn’t work, it’s still going on, and it’s making things worse
Things to Do
